Vorticism

An English avant-garde movement in art and literature. Vorticism was founded in 1914 by the artist and writer Wyndham Lewis (1882-1957). Inspired by Cubism, Vorticist artists favoured urban, industrial subjects and promoted a hard-edged, abstract style expressing the dynamism of the modern world. Artists involved with the group included Jessica Dismorr, Lawrence Atkinson, Cuthbert Hamilton, Helen Saunders, Edward Wadsworth, and the sculptor Henri Gaudier-Brzeska. Web resource here.
