tiraz

(Arabic: طراز  ). In Islamic textiles, an embroidered or woven band bearing an inscription, especially one with the name and titles of a ruler. Textiles with tiraz  were a status symbol, and their distribution was carefully controlled.  Web resource here. Video here.
