Panathenaic amphorae were large vessels that contained the olive oil given as a prizes in the quadrennial Panathenaic Games in Athens. The amphorae had a distinctive form, with a narrow neck and foot, and were decorated in the black-figure technique. The goddess Athena always appeared on one side; on the other side painters depicted the athletic event for which the prize was won. Web resource here.
