arch

In architecture, a curved structural element that spans a space. For arch types see: triumphal arch,  horseshoe arch, keel arch, corbeled arch, ogee arch. For the parts of an arch see: voussoir, springer, soffit, spandrel, keystone, intrados, extrados. See also: arcade, centering.
