A construction material consisting of clay mixed with water and a binding material such as straw, formed into bricks and dried in the sun.  To protect adobe walls, finishes can be applied, such as mud plaster or stucco.  Adobe construction is traditional to many cultures, including the indigenous peoples of the American Southwest.
